Ossie Davis & Ruby Dee {Black History Month Activist Couple}

Any form of art is a form of power; it has impact, it can affect change - it can not only move us, it makes us move.
— Ossie Davis
Struggle is strengthening. Battling with evil gives us the power to battle evil even more.
— Ossie Davis
The kind of beauty I want most is the hard to get kind that comes from within- strength, courage, and dignity.
— Ruby Dee
I am always becoming.

Talk about relationship goals! Imagine for a minute that your best friend is also the person who's art you admire, will go shoulder to shoulder with you to fight for civil rights, and makes your heart flutter!

These two people deserve so much respect for their acting, the roles they chose, and the people in the industry they helped. They were huge movers in the civil rights movement. If you were too young to remember it or even if your parents were not born at that time don't worry. This is the perfect time to research non-violent demonstrations and disruptions. Ask your parents how you as a family can help protect others rights right now.

I started February with a theme that every week I was going to do a post on two people who loved each other and pushed each other further in their art. I can think of no couple better to close this month off with than Ruby Dee+ Ossie Davis!
