Gabrielle Giffords {She was warned, she was given an explanation, nevertheless, she persisted}

“Be bold, be courageous, be your best.” Gabrielle Giffords

Imagine you are meeting people who agree and disagree with you. You are shaking hands and explaining what you are planning on doing for both those who voted for you and those who did not. You have lived your adult life being a political super hero even when some of the people you tried to help are standing on your cape. Now imagine the next thing you are aware of is being in a hospital with what can only be imagined is the world’s worst headache. On a Friday in 2011 Gabrielle Giffords, a Congresswoman from Arizona, was shot in the head.

“Gabby” had her office open to the public the very next Monday. She worked tirelessly to come back to politics. She faced down violence intended to silence her and she won.

I can think of very few woman who embody Mitch McConnell’s quote (said to another woman congresswoman, Elizabeth Warren) “She was warned, she was given an explanation, nevertheless she persisted.”
